POSITION TITLE: Mechanical Maintenance Technician I EMPLOYMENT
TYPE: Full-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt Temp-to-Hire SHIFT: 1st Shift –
Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (Some Overtime and Weekends, as
needed) LOCATION: Garland, TX 75238 DEPARTMENT: Maintenance REPORTS
TO: Plant Maintenance Manager POSITION SUMMARY: The Mechanical
Maintenance Technician I is responsible for performing mechanical
maintenance, repair, and sanitation tasks on production equipment
in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and supervisory
direction. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Disassemble and
reassemble production filling equipment (fill valves, cylinders,
hoppers, supply hoses, etc.) using hand tools. Set up production
lines for various products (adjust fill volume, cap height, date
codes, rail width, etc.). Troubleshoot and repair mechanical,
electrical, and control systems (fillers, pumps, tanks, valves,
conveyors, HVAC, boilers, chillers, compressors, fixtures, etc.).
Use appropriate equipment and tools safely (welders, grinders,
electrical meters, etc.). Maintain equipment to meet technical
specifications according to SOPs and manuals. Accurately log
maintenance activity on work orders or in the CMMS. Perform
sanitation duties including cleaning with chemicals and hoses after
maintenance work. Perform carpentry tasks (framing, installing
drywall, patching holes). Paint facility equipment and
infrastructure as needed. Operate scissor lifts and forklifts to
perform high-elevation or overhead work. Work in confined spaces
(both permitted and non-permitted), including inside mixing vessels
and storage tanks. Submit part requisitions for needed components.
Adhere to all safety, health, environmental, food safety, GMP, and
company policies. Communicate corrective and preventive issues to
supervisors and coworkers. Work closely with production and other
departments to ensure continuous operations. Maintain regular and
punctual attendance. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS: Basic mechanical, electrical, pneumatic,
and hydraulic knowledge. Familiarity with Lockout/Tagout
procedures. Ability to read schematics, manuals, building plans,
and safety codes. Carpentry skills and basic construction
knowledge. Welding skills (MIG and TIG). Forklift and scissor lift
operation capability. Proficient with hand and power tools. Ability
to follow verbal and written instructions. Strong problem-solving
and troubleshooting skills. Basic math skills for production
measurement. Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as
needed. Team player with good communication skills. PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS: Lift up to 50 lbs. Stand for extended periods (up to
3 hours). Sit, bend, squat, reach, pull, twist, and turn. Reach
overhead and forward. Manual dexterity for tool use and equipment
handling. Visual acuity for detailed repair and troubleshooting.
Comfortable working with chemicals and cleaning agents. Good
hand-eye coordination. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High school diploma
or equivalent required. Technical or trade school training
preferred. 1–2 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a
manufacturing environment preferred. Experience with high-speed
packaging and filling equipment a plus. Preventative maintenance
