Job Description:
SMT Process Engineer A manufacturer of computer hardware systems
company is seeking a skilled and motivated SMT Process Engineer /
Technician to join its team. This role is crucial to optimizing and
supporting Surface Mount Technology (SMT) operations in a low- to
mid-volume production environment with a strong emphasis on quality
and customization. Located in Mid-Cities. Responsibilities Set up,
program, debug, and operate SMT equipment including screen/stencil
printers, pick-and-place machines, feeders, X-ray systems, AOI,
washers, and reflow ovens. Create and maintain soldering profiles
for reflow ovens and hot air rework equipment. Program SMT
equipment using engineering data files; develop new programs for
screen printers, AOI, and X-ray inspection tools. Monitor and
support daily SMT line operations; identify and resolve production
issues. Perform preventive maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and
minor repairs on SMT equipment. Inspect solder paste application,
component placement, and solder joints for accuracy and quality.
Conduct detailed hand soldering and rework under a microscope using
standard tools. Qualifications Minimum 5 years of experience in SMT
process engineering or as an SMT technician working with printed
circuit board assemblies. High school diploma or GED required;
associate degree or technical certification preferred. Knowledge of
IPC-A-610 standards; certification preferred or must be obtained
and maintained. SMTA CSMTPE certification strongly preferred.
Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma principles is a plus. Ability to
identify electronic components and interpret technical
specifications. Proficient with computers, relevant software, and
electronic terminology (ohms, volts, amps, farads, watts). Skilled
in soldering fine-pitch components under a microscope. All
