LOCATION: Mesquite, TX\n\n SETTING: Clinic\n\n SCHEDULE: FT\n\n JOB
SUMMARY\n\nThe Multi-modality Sonographer performs any combination
of basic to advanced ultrasound services and procedures for
patients, which may include:? abdominal, Ob/Gyn, cardiac, vascular,
musculoskeletal and small parts.? This position analyzes the
patient?s clinical history in order to identify the purpose of the
examination, frames the clinical questions that the examination is
intended to answer and expands the examination as necessary to
answer clinical questions.\n\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE
ROLE\n\nPerforms multiple modality ultrasound procedures utilizing
a variety of equipment and techniques and makes the necessary
measurements required for the interpretation to obtain accurate,
high quality results.\nIdentifies and defines abnormalities
specific to the procedure and extends the scope of the examination
appropriately, deviating from standard techniques when necessary
and correlating other diagnostic test results with anatomy and
function. Utilizes appropriate protection measures during
procedures.\nMay assist physicians in the procedure rooms and
operating rooms by performing ultrasound studies to aid in
proceeding with complex procedures to decrease risk
factors.\nPrepares patients for procedures and obtains clinical
history from the patient including related physical findings and
pertinent laboratory data in order to adapt the imaging techniques
to obtain comprehensive and diagnostic exams to alleviate the
probability of erroneous clinical interpretation of the ultrasound.
Explains the purpose of the ultrasound examination to the patient
and answers questions.\nRecords statistics and performs daily
maintenance of the ultrasound Lab and its equipment, reporting all
malfunctions as appropriate.\nActs as a resource to other staff,
physicians and students regarding equipment, techniques, procedures
and studies to optimize patient care.\nWorks closely with
ultrasound team to ensure quality processes and adherence to
protocols, and assists with unit and/or organization accreditation
activities as delegated.\nImplements protocols as new technology
evolves, and ensures implementation and adherence to system
standards.\nAssures operation of equipment by performing quality
checks following manufacturer?s recommendations and troubleshooting
equipment as required.\n\nKEY SUCCESS FACTORS\n\nMust be familiar
with approved clinical protocols for each type of ultrasound
examination to be performed.\nMust meet all of the qualifications
and requirements for any two of the following modalities: Ob/Gyn,
cardiac, vascular, musculoskeletal, or small parts, and will work a
minimum of 25% of the time in the second modality. Pediatric and
adult scopes are considered separate specialties by
certification.\nKnowledge and ability to apply complex sonographic
principles, instrumentation and techniques.\nKnowledge of relevant
anatomy and physiology for each different specialty.\nKnowledge of
proper infection control, including precautionary
procedures.\nKnowledge of relevant laws regarding patient
confidentiality and privacy.\nAbility to interact and communicate
effectively, both orally and in writing, with healthcare providers,
including other sonographers, physicians and nurses.\nSkilled in
the utilization of computers and medical

levelQUALIFICATIONS- EDUCATION - Grad of Accred Prog or Eqival-
EXPERIENCE - 2 Years of Experience-
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS
or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer. Adv Cardiac Sonographer
(ACS), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Reg Diag Cardiac
Sonographer (RDCS), Ped.Echocardiography (PE) (RDCS-PE), Reg Diag
Med Sono-Abdomen (AB) (RDMS-AB), Registered Vascular Sonographe
(RVS), Registered Vascular Tech (RVT): Must have TWO of the
following ACS, RCS, RDCS, RDCS-PE, RDMS-AB, RVS, RVT.
