GENERAL SUMMARY

To lead participants in a variety of recreational activities; to supervise the use of equipment and supplies; to enforce the rules and regulations of the Recreation Center; and to assist in organizing and implementing activities for the Adults 50+.

SUPERVISION

  • General supervision is provided by a Senior Program Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • All behaviors comply with the Code of Conduct and Rules ofBehavior outlined inChapter 8 of the General Government PoliciesandProcedures Manual.
  • Adheres toassigned work schedule asoutlined in city and department attendance policies andprocedures.
  • Assist in the provision of nutrition and transportation services tosenior citizens.
  • May assist in preparing various reports on senior center operationsand activities.
  • Conduct daily recreational activities such as games, exercise, artsand craftsclassesand other special events for programparticipants.
  • Maintain inventory control on equipment and supplies; maintain anaccurateandcurrent listing of users.
  • Observe safety precautions; correct minor safety problems; conductactivities in asafemanner.
  • Issue participation cards and collect fees for class registration.
  • Assist patrons with questions; answer phones and help walk incustomers.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE

  • No experience required; however, experience with senior citizens in leading educational or recreation programs is preferred.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Obtain First Aid and CPR certifications within 90 days of employment.
  • Depending on assignment, may be required to obtain a CDL within 90 days of employment as a condition of continued employment. Failure to obtain a CDL within 90 days of employment will result in non-disciplinary termination.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Mustbe able to work aflexible work schedule.
  • Work 15-20 hours per week, Monday - Friday between 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • Must be able tooccasionally work evenings or weekends.
