motivated Managing Technical Consultant, Archaeologist to join our
global consulting firm as part of our Cultural Resources Services
team. This is a full-time, salary-based position that can be based
from a local ERM office or fully remote. Applicants are preferred
to be local to Austin, Dallas, Houston, or New Orleans, and should
be familiar with relevant regional regulatory processes (federal,
state, municipal). Demonstrated regional high-level consulting
experience is required. The successful candidate must be flexible
and responsive to a challenging and changing work environment where
schedules and tasks fluctuate according to project and client
needs. The hire will be attached to an ERM office in Texas or
Louisiana, but other geographies may be considered for the ideal
candidate. The successful candidate will also provide technical
assistance for clients across the United States, focusing on
project needs and business development within their
region.Responsibilities
- Oversee a team performing literature review, field
reconnaissance, surveys, and excavation for archaeological studies
and projects.
- Provide technical consulting to support ERM's growth in
archaeology and cultural heritage.
- Collaborate with other ERM practice areas to share resources
and best practices across the country.
- Represent ERM in communications and meetings with state,
federal, and local agencies.
- Maintain regular communication with clients via email and phone
conferences.
- Manage subcontractors.
- Assist in preparing proposals to meet client needs.
- Manage multiple projects within scope, budget, schedule, and
quality standards.
- Lead, manage performance, hire, mentor, and inspire personnel
for the technical team's success.
- Leverage existing ERM client relationships to expand ERM's
profile and market share in cultural resources, through technical
excellence and business development.
- Participate in teams with impact assessment professionals
globally.
- Engage with State Historic Preservation Offices, federal
agencies, and access online cultural resource databases.
- Supervise staff in office and during fieldwork.
- Conduct research and prepare technical reports.
- Support business growth through technical consulting and client
relationships.
- Potentially conduct fieldwork.Requirements
- Graduate degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field
plus 4+ years of paid experience.
- Proven ability to complete research projects.
- Registered Professional Archaeologist.
- Ability to obtain archaeological and cultural resource
permits.
- Experience with inventory, survey, testing, and data
recovery.
- Experience as primary author on agency-reviewed technical
reports.
- Strong attention to detail in documentation.
- Experience interacting with regulatory agencies preferred.
- Proficient in permitting regulations (FERC, USACE, THC).
- Excellent communication and computer skills.
- Business development skills and ability to maintain client
relationships.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Limited travel within the U.S.
- Strong interpersonal skills, integrity, confidence, and
client-focused approach.
- Driver's license required for travel.Desired Qualifications
